Northcote

We worked with Wilderness Building Company, with designs by Placement Architects, to complete the joinery in this beautiful character-filled home. Spotted gum rotary-cut veneer and solid timber features and accents are carried throughout the kitchen, laundry, living area, bedrooms and bathroom.

The kitchen features a lengthy solid timber benchtop with a fine bevel edge, floating shelves with 60° bevel detailing, and an amber glass display unit with concealed Salice Air hinges (not shown in photos). We carefully aligned the horizontal grain, creating flow from one side of the kitchen to the other and forming a unified space.

The laundry continues with the same solid timber benchtop paired with Laminex colourboard in a seamless shift from one space to the next, maintaining some visual rhythm while remaining functional.

In the living area, a low sideboard and 4-metre solid timber floating shelf reinforce the same material language as the kitchen, while the bathroom continues the soft geometry with curved edges, a solid timber vanity top with inset basin and integrated shelving with glass backing.

Bedrooms incorporate built-in wardrobes designed around the existing architecture — framing the windows and forming bench seats in each room. One robe features discrete push-to-open doors and finger-pull handles; another incorporates solid timber handles and hardwood bevelled-edge shelving, with the walk-in robe in Laminex Blackbutt from the True Scale range, following the pitch of the ceiling.
